◈ Quest Chains Coming Soon

Quest Creator in MainQuest

Most of it already works. One piece is still on the way.

Quest Creator vs. the Quest System

These are two different things. The Quest System is the mechanical layer — XP formulas, deadlines, abandon penalties, skill linking. Quest Creator is the crafting layer — how you shape and structure a quest in the first place.

Part of that crafting toolkit already exists; the centerpiece still coming is Quest Chains.

Already Live: Shaping a Single Quest

Every quest you write today already carries a title, a free-text description for context or lore, checklist Objectives you check off one at a time, and a Difficulty — Easy, Medium, Hard, or Epic — that decides its XP directly. Set one to repeat Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly and it rolls its due date forward on its own. None of that is a preview — it works today, on both platforms.

What's missing is the ability to connect quests to each other — that's Quest Chains.

Coming Soon: Quest Chains

Right now, every quest stands on its own — there's no way to sequence several quests into one storyline. Quest Chains is the planned centerpiece of Quest Creator: the same idea as Habit Links, applied to quests instead of habits.

Not Live Yet

No release date has been announced for Quest Chains, and exact mechanics — how a chain is built, what it rewards for finishing one — haven't been confirmed. This guide won't invent them.

There's also no quest-template sharing or community marketplace planned for quests — MainQuest's separate Marketplace (also in development) is for trading items and cosmetics, a different system entirely.

The Reward Dial

Difficulty is the dial that decides XP, both today and going forward: Epic pays double Medium, Hard pays 1.5×. There's no separate custom XP or gold number to type in — live or planned. For the full mechanical picture — XP math, abandon penalties, daily caps — see the Quest System guide.

What to Watch For

The most reliable way to know when Quest Chains ships:

  • Check the MainQuest roadmap — Quest Chains is listed there as in development.
  • Watch for an update to this guide — it gets filled in with real mechanics the moment they ship, not before.

Tips

  • The base Quest Creator is not a preview — title, description, Objectives, and Difficulty all work today.
  • Quest Chains is the part that does not exist yet — do not expect to link quests together yet.
  • The confirmed plan for Quest Chains: the same idea as Habit Links, applied to quests instead of habits.
  • Check the MainQuest roadmap for the current status on Quest Chains — this guide updates the moment that changes.
