Four Ways to Build a Habit
Not every habit works the same way, so the Habit Creator doesn't force one shape onto all of them. Pick the Kind that actually matches what you're doing:
- Standard — a single daily check-in.
- Focusable — completed via the Focus Timer, credited to a Skill.
- Countable — multi-tap per day, with an optional daily target.
- Vice — for habits you're trying to break; each log costs HP instead of earning it.
Intensity Sets the Reward
Every habit carries an Intensity — Light, Medium, or Hard — and it's the dial that decides the XP a check-in pays. Every check-in also pays a flat rate of Embercoin and subpoints toward whichever Class Attributes you linked the habit to, no matter which Intensity you picked.
Light
10 XP
Medium
20 XP
Hard
30 XP
Plus 10 Embercoin per check-in, regardless of Intensity.
Schedule It Your Way
Set a habit to Every Day, or pick Specific Days for a custom weekday schedule. Or skip scheduling entirely and choose “Do After Habit...” to chain the new habit directly onto one you already have — it either joins that habit's existing Habit Link or starts a brand-new one.
Starting a new chain from scratch is a Pro feature; adding a fresh habit into a chain you already own stays free either way. See Habit Links for the full chain mechanics.
The Failsafe Microversion
Every habit can carry an optional Microversion — the lowest-friction fallback of the real thing. “Read 10 pages” might have “Read 1 page” as its microversion. On a day the full habit is out of reach, completing the microversion instead still counts and keeps your streak alive.
It's optional per habit, and it's there for the days your ideal routine isn't realistic — not a way to avoid the habit, just a way to not lose the streak over one rough day.
FAQ
What Habit Kinds can I create?
Four: Standard (a single daily check-in), Focusable (completed via the Focus Timer, credited to a Skill), Countable (multi-tap, with an optional daily target), and Vice (each log costs HP instead of earning it).
How does a habit's Intensity affect its reward?
Light, Medium, or Hard sets the XP a check-in pays — 10, 20, or 30 XP. Every check-in also pays 10 Embercoin and subpoints toward its linked Attributes, regardless of Intensity.
Can I schedule a habit for specific days only?
Yes — Every Day or Specific Days. You can also chain a new habit onto an existing one with “Do After Habit...”, which joins that habit's chain or starts a new one.
Is creating a habit free?
Yes — unlimited on both plans. Only starting a brand-new Habit Chain is Pro; adding a new habit into a chain you already have stays free.
What is a Failsafe Microversion?
An optional smaller fallback version of the habit. Completing it instead of the full habit on a hard day still counts and keeps your streak alive.
